Barre workouts help an individual achieve a “dancer’s body” — strong, sleek, tight and toned. How? Barre Belles uses body weight exercises and/or low weights with high repetitions, increasing muscle endurance and cardiovascular strength. Sometimes props will be used, such as Pilates balls and yoga blocks for example. The ballet-inspired workout focuses on incredibly efficient, tiny movements. You will be challenged to find your “working zone” or “sweet spot,” and will remain there while you move within an inch up and down. The exercises will target core stability and balance, as well as have you using muscles that are not normally activated with traditional exercise. Focus during class is on alignment and body position, working in “turn-out”- an external rotation of the legs from the hips- and targeting the muscles known collectively as the lateral rotators of the hip- the piriformis, gemellus superior, obturator internus, gemellus inferior, obturator externus, and quadrates femoris. This makes barre classes, like Barre Belles, a fabulous compliment to any exercise regiment.
The exercises in a barre class challenge your core stability and balance. If you are aware of your alignment (which you will constantly be reminded of in a Barre Belles class… “pull your belly in”… “tack your navel to your spine”….), you will be challenging your core for the duration. The ballet-inspired workout focuses on incredibly efficient, tiny movements. You will be challenged to find your “working zone” or “sweet spot” and remaining there while you move an inch down and back up, which will have your heart rate elevated and your forehead glistening in moments!

There are three main parts to the Yoga Booty Ballet program:
• Rehearsal and guided meditation: this 14-minute section teaches you proper form of basic yoga postures and dance moves along with some simple meditations.
• Total toning basics: this 45-minute full-body workout combines ballet, modern dance, yoga, abdominal exercises, and strength training.
• Advanced fat burning: this 60-minute section gives you advanced moves to continue your workout after learning the basic moves.

The class begins with an invigorating warm-up of standing arm and core exercises using Kettlebells (10 or 15 pound weights that looks like a miniature kettle), and regular arm weights. This amazing workout concludes with floor exercises (some with the Kettlebell) to tone the abdominal muscles and lower body – and the core, of course!
